Why not balance out a local beer extravaganza with a talk about the state of our Carbon Dioxide emissions? I did just that by attending back-to-back Philly Beer Week-sponsored Bathtub Beer Fest and Bill McKibben's 350 Do the Math tour! (Find out about both events, after the jump).

It's cold outside, it gets dark at 5, and we're practically ready to haul up the holly before getting our free-range (or tofu) turkeys. The change of seasons can only mean one thing: Are you ready to go local with your brews for Philly Beer Week? OK, so maybe the Philly Beer Week 2013 is a little ways away. 'Twas the night before Philly Beer Week... And all through the town... We woke up from our dream and got psyched to drink locally! Woohoo! OK, so Philly Beer Week  starts today, June 1st.  This glorious week (and a few days...) is a 10 day celebration of our amazing beer-drinking city... Rather than importing brews, let's stay on our love all things local tangent and enjoy just a few of the local & sustainable beverages of the week:

How are you celebrating Philly Beer Week? I started my celebration of hops last evening at the Extreme Homebrew Challenge - where none other than my awesome brother's Factotum, (aged over American Oak chips infused with Maker's Mark) won the People's Choice award! Whether you drink beer, wine or liquor, you can green your imbibing impact. Lucky for us Philadelphians, there's tons of opportunities to drink green, local, delicious beer in Philly this week.
