Philly’s 8th Greenest – What?

Mayor Nutter wants Philly to be #1 at something besides cheesesteaks… his Greenworks plan goal is for Philly to be the Greenest in the USA.

The Grist just put out a 10 most climate-ready cities ranking and called Philly #8… tied with #7’s New York. (sidenote… how is it 8th if it’s tied?)

How do you feel about that, Philly? Think our green actions deserve #7/8?  Or are you hesitant?

Sound off the comments.

  1. Haha, good read. I see rooftop-gardens everywhere now and I’m lovin’ it. If you snoop around a little you can find the most diverse and precious gardens hidden behind unsuspecting fences and properties.
Not sure if we can beat the CA cities’ they are whole-food junkies believe me I speak from experience. Gave me a break from my mcat study guide. Keep it green..

    Cheers

  2. Agreed – Philly’s blowing up with greenness (check out the new bike lanes) but we still have a lot more stepping up to do to compete with Ca, Portland, etc.

  3. We have a functioning transit system and density. We could throw our trash in the streets and burn it for heat and we’d still be ‘more climate ready’ than most of the cities in this country.
