The Perfume Fountain: Natural Air Freshener & Perfume

The Perfume FountainThere’s always a downside to a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Like most of those fragrances you see plastered with the gorgeous faces of Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian and Queen Bey have a dark side. The US National Academy of Sciences targeted fragrances over 25 years ago as one of the 6 categories of neutroxins (ie toxic to your brain) as perfume; are made from synthetic, petroleum-based chemicals and may contain cancer-causing toxins.

So what’s a green guy or gal to do?

Local Company Spotlight: The Perfume Fountain

The Perfume Fountain is just one local, sustainable alternative. Instead of toxic chemicals, ‘Perfumer’ Debbie uses earth-friendly and sustainable ingredients for unique scents. Scents are made from real plants and flowers, often organic and wildcrafted where possible. There’s no artificial colors, not tested on animals and even comes in sustainable packaging. And rather than supporting imported perfume, you’re supporting a local business (and USA) product.

Based in Downingtown PA, The Perfume Fountain is a member of the Sustainable Business Network of Philadelphia & Indie Beauty Network.

Perfume Fountain Review

I received a couple samples form the Perfume Fountain to try on for a smell. The first one was home spray, the Festive Holiday Edition of the Lavender-Mint Room Mist. Unlike the typical Glade, the Perfume Fountain room mists have a lighter smell with a hint of mint. Created from a cocktail of garden-grow lavender and locally grown mint, alcohol, water and essential oils, many ingredients are organic and local where possible.

The Mon Choux perfume is a nice alternative to the strong, conventional brands. Described as “a mix of vanilla and chocolate base, sandalwood and crisp top notes”, the smell settles into a subtle vanilla and floral scent. I would definitely wear this scent out.

Readers, have you tried the Perfume Fountain? What are your favorite scents?

*Note: I did receive complimentary samples for this review but no compensation otherwise. All opinions are my own.
