Support Meatless Monday for Philly Schools

After City Council passed a resolution to encourage Philadelphians to participate in Meatless Mondays, we’re seeing the next target: City Schools.

An initiative by local organizations including the Humane League, Real Food Works, Clean Air Council and others is pushing for schools to eat meatless on Mondays. Schools across the country from LA, Detroit and Buffalo have adopted similar measures in schools to fight childhood obesity & promote sustainability.

Meatless meals have the opportunity to be healthier, as the promo video displays opportunities of veggie burgers, falafel & hummus, rice & beans and veggie pizza. Plus, the Vetri Foundation’s Eatiquette sources from local farms and builds seasonal menus that Philly schools can learn a thing or two from…

You can find out more about the initiative and sign the petition by visiting Philly Meatless Monday’s website.
