Today is Arbor Day, yo.

As Arbor Day is all about planting (and appreciating) trees Mayor Nutter will appropriately celebrate Arbor Day with TreePhilly at the tree planting and volunteer day held at Marian Anderson Recreation Center.

The event is to be held Friday April 26th from 1:45 to 4pm.  Mayor Nutter is expected to address the group early.

Trees will be planted along S. 17th St between Fitzwater and Catharine Streets.  TreePhilly workers will be on site to hand out free yard trees to residents.

 Wells Fargo Bank will present TreePhilly with a $50,000 grant to support year two of the TreePhilly initiative. Also, Philadelphia will be presented with the “Tree City” award for the 37^th consecutive year. Not a shabby Arbor Day for Philadelphia!

Marian Anderson Recreation Center is located at 740 S. 17th St.
