Happy New Year! My Green Resolutions for Philly

Dear City of Philadelphia, Mayor Nutter & the Streets Department,

I’ve never been one that likes resolutions.  I tend to make resolutions when I decide to change something, instead of waiting for Jan 1 to roll around.

Therefore, I’m officially requesting my New Years Resolutions for the City of Philadelphia in 2011:

  1. Can you please eliminate the plastic bags, or charge for them? So many cities are doing so… Don’t let Shoprite stop you this time.
  2. More. Bike. Lanes! The Spruce & Pine lanes are so spacious and kind to bikers. Please Mayor Nutter, get a few more!
  3. Keep expanding your recycling programs, such as Christmas Trees & Bagged Leaf Drives.
  4. Make my favorite stadium, Citizens Bank, totally green too. The Linc already committed – what’s one more?
  5. Push your leaders, trendsetters & local celebs to become even greener.  Besides, if it’s trendy, others will follow suite. Right?
  6. Please continue your awesome efforts in the Greenworks plan.

Sincerely with Love,

GPB’s Julie
