GreenFest Philly & Bike Philly This Weekend!

GreenFest Philly 2010

GreenFest Philly returns to 2nd & South Street/Headhouse Square District for a fashion-themed event this Sunday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The annual green festival will feature:

  • More than 200 exhibitors
  • Vegetarian food
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Kids activities
  • Eco-poetry contest
  • Eco-exchange fashion show and clothing swap

Highlighting everything from sewing buttons to buying second hand to purchasing a sustainable wardrobe, this year’s theme is fashion. Featuring a fashion show and clothing swap, GreenFest Philly will emphasize the importance of supporting local thrift stores, buying organic fabrics, and recycling your closet. Find out how easy it is to remove that nasty stain without using harsh chemicals and how to turn a torn T-shirt into a fabulous scarf.

Bike Philly 2010

This Sunday, September 12 at 8:00 am, join cyclists for Bike Philly, a morning of relaxed biking on certified car-free Philadelphia streets. This annual event is family-friendly, featuring a car-free 10 & 20 mile loop, or 35 miles on shared roads. This event supports the Bicycle Coalition’s efforts to make the city more livable and sustainable.

Bicyclists of all skill levels are welcome. Bike Philly rolls rain or shine.  Cyclists are encouraged to use SEPTA to get to the event.  (Registration is open until September 11th!)
