However, there are local organizations calling for your help to work towards an eco-friendly future, showing that the solution takes everyone’s hands.

PennEnvironment makes strides in environmental advocacy

This Philly & Pittsburgh-based organization advocates for a greener, healthier Pennsylvania to protect the rivers, parks, and natural environment of Pennsylvania.

PennEnvironment tackles numerous issues such as protecting the clean water of the Delaware River Watershed, single-use plastic and renewable energy with coalitions by working with legislators

PennFuture sprints towards a greener future for Pennsylvanians

PennFuture is a nonprofit watchdog that focuses on creating a clean energy economy in Pennsylvania and informs the public on how to reduce a fossil fuel-led industry.

The organization touches on several aspects of tackling environmental issues through legal, policy, and outreach solutions. Victories include assistance in the Alternative Energy Investment Act, with $180 million for solar. Another campaign is the Keep Philly Green & Water Clean Campaign, to improve Green Stormwater Infrastructure.

Clean Water Action swims to protect our drinking water

Clean Water Action is on a mission to protect drinking water and clean up polluted waterways.

Join Clean Water Action in the fight, from asking the EPA to drop one of its “Secret Science” Proposal to asking retailers to take out toxic chemicals from their products and packaging.

Trash Academy educates the public on litter management in the local Philadelphia area.

Designed to combat the nickname of ‘Filthadelphia,’ Trash Academy is a project of the Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Restored Spaces Initiative, using the arts to bring people together for a cleaner city.   

Trash Academy’s programs include convening residents, engaging community members and grassroots solutions, like their Fall plastic bag billboard campaign.

Philly Thrive works on climate justice and clean air

Philly Thrive fights for a transition to a just economy with clean jobs. They played a large role in the recent victory against the PES refinery in South Philadelphia.
