Holiday Celebrations Continue: December 15-18th Events

Happy Monday!  Hope you were able to take advantage of this jam-packed weekend’s holiday shopping, hikes in Fairmount Park and winterfests.

We know you were out having fun, so in case you missed this weekend’s news: Denmark claimed the North Pole and all its potential energy resources, we remembered the two year anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, and Bill Cosby finally talked (sort of).

As the Holiday Season nears its peak, here’s what’s happening in Philly this week.

Week Events for December 15-18, 2014:

  • Urban Riding Basics: Take a 60-minute class to gain confidence to bike in the city side-by-side with cars. Bicycle Coalition all-star Katie Monroe will instruct you from amateur to two-wheeling spirit. Tuesday December 16th from 6-7 PM,1500 Walnut St, 2nd Floor Conference Room, Philadelphia, PA.  Free, RSVP.
  • Opening of Palladino’s:  Chef Luke Palladino has restored the former Colombo’s building into a hot new restaurant with a focus on focus on seafood and wood-fired steak.  Thursday Dec. 18th. @ 5 PM – 2 AM. Palladino’s, 1934 E. Passyunk Avenue. More Info.
  • South Philly Barbacoa at Isaiah Zagar’s Building:  Isaiah Zagar is opening up his private building off South street for the first time to the public.  The night features the mosaic artwork of his  Magic Gardens lit by candlelight.  South Philly Barbacoa and Victory Brewing Co. is catering the event with live jazz music. Monday, Dec. 15th @ 6 PM.  10th and Watkins street. $95.  Space is limited, reserve now.
  • Dinner at Flora Meetup:  Join a group of “veggies” at Flora, a new vegan restaurant in Jenkintown.  Wednesday Dec. 17th @ 6:30 PM.  Flora, 307 Old York Rd, Jenkintown, PA.  Details.
  • Falling Waters of the Schuylkill: Join local photographer and environmental educator Sandy Sorlien as she presents a lively slideshow that compares historic and contemporary images of four local Schuylkill River dams and their canals.  Monday Dec. 15th @  7 – 9 PM. Molly Maguire’s Irish Restaurant and Pub, 197 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.  Read More.
