Weekly Round-Up: Events for November 10-13th

Hope everyone enjoyed this perfect, though chilly, fall weekend. Whether you got your bike on or enjoyed one of the last-approp pumpkin lattes, we hope you made it the best one possible before the Polar Vortex rolls in yet again.

You can also look forward to another event: Have you registered yet for our Website Relaunch / Big Green Party co-hosted by the Sustainability Nexus?  You for sure won’t want to miss it! But before we get too excited, let’s pace ourselves with this week:

Here’s whats happening in Philly this week of November 10 – 13th:

  • Crafting_for_a_Cause_ImageCrafting for a Cause: Craft your own framed jewelry holder with Darla DeMorrow (of Heartwork Organizing) to help raise money for the Montgomery County Habitat for Humanity. A beautiful home decor for a great cause!  Nov 13th @ 11am-1pm. Restore Montco. 533 Foundry Rd. West Norriton, PA. $50 donation. Register Here.
  • Main Street Vegan: Eating Green & Loving Life:  Intrigued about the vegan life but worry that it’s expensive, too hard to maintain or just plain cow-hugging weird? Join Victoria Moran, holistic health counselor, author, and longtime vegan for an inspiring talk and book signing. Thursday, Nov. 13th @ 7-8pm. Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley. The event is free and open to the public.
  • New Slow City: Living Simply in the World’s Fastest City: William Powers discusses his new book about how he and his wife are able to live the slow, simple life in the hustle and bustle of New York City.  Listen to how they jettisoned 80 percent of their stuff and moved into a 350-square-foot “micro apartment” in Greenwich Village and become inspired to make urban life more people- and planet-friendly. Thursday, November 13th @ 6pm. Penn Book Center,130 S. 34th Street.  More Info.
  • Movember at Frankford Hall:  Help raise awareness and funds for mens health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health through the power of moustache…and awesome drink specials!  Enjoy rare, experimental and exclusive beers from local breweries Yards, Fegley’s Brew Works, DuClaw and Victory every Tuesday in November.  10% of these sales will be donated to the Movember cause. Also, anyone sporting a Mo receives specially priced draft beer ($4 ½ Liter / $8 Liter) during the entire month!  Tuesdays.  Frankford Hall, 1210 Frankford Ave. Info.
