It’s not too late to join the team of Waste Watchers for the Philadelphia Marathon this weekend!

Partnering for the 4th year in a row, the Mayor’s offices of Sustainability and Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service are asking for your help.

This group of enthusiastic volunteers educates runners and spectators about how to recycle and compost properly, helping race attendees sort their waste into the correct bins. Last year, Waste Watchers helped the race divert an astonishing 86% of race waste from the landfill!  They hope to match this amazing effort again this year.

The Philadelphia Marathon Event will be held at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, this Saturday, November 22nd and Sunday, November 23rd.  All Waste Watchers partake in a fun and interactive sustainability training session and receive a guide to help educate event-goers on how to properly sort their waste.  Best of all, score an exclusive Waste Watchers sweatshirt!  Register here for a shift!
