Like shopping, gardening demos, great local food, BEER gardens, live entertainment and more?

The PHS Fall Garden Festival is coming to the Navy Yard on Saturday, September 21st from 10 AM – 7 PM.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is hosting the festival,also including harvest contests, kid-friendly activities, a PHS City Harvest Market – including local  produce, interactive DIY demonstrations, a special Make & Take activity space; a sneak peek of the 2014 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, “ARTiculture;” and a Harvest Happy Hour from 4-7pm hosted by the PHS Young Friends, Yards Brewing Company, and the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail. You’ll also be able to take a bus tour of the transformed Navy Yard – seeing historic buildings, docked battleships, state-of-the-art research facilities, and post-industrial landscapes – all in an environmentally sustainable community with gorgeous river views.

The Naval Yoga Center will kick off the day, get creative with the Young Rembrandts artists, soar sky-high in bucket trucks with Bartlett Tree Experts, or stick to the always popular veggie races and pumpkin-painting activities. Are you a budding horticulturist who wants to show off your skills? The Fall Garden Festival will have harvest-time contests, including “Garden Giants” for veggies and “Garden Bounty” for flowers and products.

Need some new foliage? The PHS Fall Garden Festival Marketplace will feature plants, tools, garden accessories, home décor, craft items, and keepsakes from the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show. Visitors can also shop at the PHS Store for unusual varieties of succulents and tropical indoor plants from PHS Meadowbrook Farm in Abington Township and a colorful selection of vegetables, flowers, and plants for fall. PHS will also have a festive Flea Market on-site for the first time, featuring Flower Show collectables.

PHS members and anyone who joins the PHS family at the festival will be entitled to discounts throughout the event, including free plants, in addition to the year-round benefits of membership.
