Phillies are Becoming Greener, Host eCycle Event Saturday 6/25

As you loyal Green Philly Blog readers may know, Beth & I are avid Phillies fans.  (Case in point: see insert below as we celebrated World Series Victory in ’08.)  While the Phillies are lovable for so many reasons (my fav player Chooch to name one ?!?), their green ambitions are certainly noteworthy between their Red Goes Green campaign, Pitcher Ryan Madson (ahh) greening his home and awards for being most veggie-friendly by PETA

Not to be done by the Linc’s ambition to be the Greenest Stadium in the World, the Phils have stepped up their eco-game yet again.

The Phillies have purchased 20 million kilowatt hours of Renewable Energy Certificate (REC)s for the 4th consecutive year, thus earning the 2011 Green power Leadership Award from the EPA!  This season has a brand-new high-volume organic waste decomposition system, to decompose all organic food waste saving them from the landfill.

As Uwishunu reported, the Phillies have quite the record of green events.

This Saturday, June 25, the Phillies and Waste Management are hosting a Red Goes Green eCycle Event from 8-11 AM – bring used electronic items to Lot S  (like small televisions, computer CPUs, monitors, and peripherals; VCRs, copiers, stereo equipment and radios, calculators, cell phones, scanners, fax machines and telephones) to be recycled free of charge (max 2 per person.)  First 200 participants will receive an autographed photo card from greenie Ryan Madson.

Between these green updates and the Phils’ ridiculous record currently, I have hopes of a very red October! 😉

  1. We are currently working on relocating Ghostrade.com to the City of Philadelphia. Our model will allow people to upload, inventory, track, sell, donate and recycle technology on a mass scale. email us at customercare@ghostrade.com

    Ghostrade.com
Founded in March 2009, Ghostrade LLC is a new generation social commerce portal and business model that grew out of the idea: “The world has an inventory problem, and the value of the technology often vanishes”-even though someone in the world could have benefited from it. Ghostrade.com is privately held and serves as the online “Connective-Tissue” between people, causes, technology and environmental sustainability and is located in Phoenix, Arizona.
