We made it to Friday! Celebrate by taking a super-safe bike share, checking out the new Philly lane sharrows, or locking up your bike on a new rack!

Now, onto the important stuff… The weekend.

Whether you’re looking for a guided run or bike tour around Philly or just want to hang out at a low country Shrimp Boil, there is plenty to do this weekend.

Here are our top picks for what’s going on in Philly for the weekend of August 15 – 17th:

  • Shrimp Boil @ Greensgrow Farms: Come out to support Greensgrow Farms, a local Philly farmstand, CSA and garden supply all-in-one, for a Shrimp Boil and dance party! The organization, which also operates many community-serving programs such as a low-income CSA, educational programming and community kitchen, will be serving up a low country boil complete with Zydeco dance party and surprise raffles! Funds from the evening will go to support the Greensgrow Community Kitchen. Saturday, August 16th, 5 – 9 PM, 2501 E. Cumberland St., $40 – 60, Tickets.
  • Painting Workshop: ReStore Montco of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, PA is presenting a painting workshop to demonstrate techniques and supplies for furniture painting. Held at ReStore Montco, HeartWork Organizing owner, Darla DeMorrow will lead the hands-on event, providing inspiration for reviving furniture, like the pieces found at ReStore Montco, ready for their transformation. Saturday, August 16th, 11:30 AM, 533 Foundry Rd., Free. To Register: email ereinhard@habitatmontco.org or call (610)278-7710.
  • Volunteer Day @ Francisville Farm & Orchard: Urbanstead and Francisville NDC are teaming up with local volunteers for a fun day of farming and green-work. Bring a pair of gloves and be ready to get your hands dirty! Saturday, August 16th, 10 AM – 2 PM, 1708 Ridge Ave., Call when you arrive to be let in the gate! (215) 873-3483.
  • Guided Runs @ West Fairmount Park: Join fellow runners as guides lead a six-mile jog through West Fairmount Park’s trails. Enjoy the many running tracks through tunnels, over bridges, and past old trolley tracks. Saturday, August 16th, 9 – 11 AM, Car Bam Parking Lot @ Montgomery Dr., Free for Fairmount Park Conservancy members & $10 non-members, Tickets.
  • Solar States Cycle City Bike Tour: Take a bike tour of Philly’s inspiring solar projects! Come out for a fun 10 – 15 miles bike ride that ends with a happy hour at Standard Tap and its own solar array! Sunday, August 17th, 10 AM – 2PM, 1400 N. American St. Suite 401.
