Tri-state sustainability symposium 2014The 2014 Tri-State Sustainability Symposium returns to Philly on March 7. Currently in year #4, industry, university & community leaders share sustainability insight, questions and cutting edge information – relevant right in our region.

The Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC) are hosting the affair, followed by a free sustainability forum with PA’s gubernatorial candidates.

The Sustainability Symposium will feature sessions addressing topics like green business, technology and sustainability, commercial real estate owners and tenants, LEED v4, renewable energy. Plus, network and meet over 800 sustainability professionals. Keynote speakers include Yalmaz Siddiqu, Senior Director of Environmental Strategy at Office Depot and Gary Oppenheimer, Founder & Executive Director of AmpleHarvest.org.

The speakers are from a wide variety and an all-star Philly line up. HipCityVeg’s Nicole Marquis, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability Katherine Gajewski, PR guru Paige Wolf, Philadelphia Water Department’s Christine Knapp, Doug Gatlin, VP of Market Development of USGBC and many, many more.

The one-day conference is eligible for GBCI & AIA credits, if you’re into that type of thing.

See Me Speak about Social Media!

I’ll be speaking on the Social Media for Sustainability: Leveraging Tools for Interaction and Transparency panel along with Marissa Rosen, Director of Social Media at Triple Pundit, and Evan Urbania, CEO and Co-Founder of Chatterblast Media. Nicholas Davis, Managing Director of Agrion will moderate.

Borrowed language from the Tri-States Sustainability Website, here’s a description:

This session will provide an overview to assist sustainability professionals/advocates in using social media to get their messages out to targeted audiences for maximum impact.  Each panelist will share real world stories of the synergy between sustainability and social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogging.  Attendees will learn how to get started with social media and how to understand and measure results.

This year’s symposium will including a “Continue the Conversation” time after the panel, leaving time to discuss the topic with panelists and attendees for 30 minutes post-panel. Watch our session and be sure to say Hi after!
