Billing mishap caused customers to receive bills of $10,000 and other amounts

Philadelphia Water had a billing snafu that showed incorrect amounts for water bills in 19 zip codes, some up to $10,000 dollars. Over 16,000 customers were affected in the mishap.

Customers with incorrect amounts were billed on Tuesday, August 3rd and showed up on e-billing accounts on Wednesday.

Philadelphia Water said they are working to resolve the issue and not impact the automatic payment optons.

The City said customers should wait for an updated bill. If you’d like to speak to a billing representative, call (215) 685-6300 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
