Office of Sustainability released its Greenworks Magazine on Earth Day

Celebration at Cherry Street Pier included storytelling, local partners and other activities

The Office of Sustainability released its annual sustainability report, the 2022 Greenworks Review, on Friday. It held an Earth Day event in person for the first time in two years, due to pandemic restrictions.

Christine Knapp, Office of Sustainability Director

The magazine-style report highlights local sustainability efforts, residents, and businesses that are addressing environmental and social issues.

The report covers successes of Philadelphia’s sustainability like completing the Urban Agriculture Plan, purchasing electric school buses, and receiving an “A” from CDP. Additionally, it provides practical tips like how to set out your trash and regrow vegetables.

In addition to the magazine release at the Office of Sustainability’s Earth Day event, there were a variety of groups tabling, an interactive boxing display to “fight” climate change, and community leaders told stories about what environmental justice means to them.
