Newsflash: The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability has released a report about how Philly is going to be affected by Climate Change – and how we can prepare.

Appropriately released in conjunction with the Paris Climate Talks, the 82 page doc is the first climate adaptation report that addresses what we’ve been saying for a while – Philly’s going to be hotter AND wetter.

Report highlights include:

• Detailed climate projections for Philadelphia: MOS & Climate scientists got detailed projections of warmer & wetter climates over the next 85 years.
• Vulnerability assessment for city-owned assets: How will city-owned assets (AKA fire and police stations, garages, rec centers, restrooms, etc.) be affected by climate change like extreme heat, more rain and sea level?
• Early implementation adaptation strategies: What can Philly do in the long term (now) for what we have and how can we adapt as a city?
• Sea level is likely to rise 2 feet by 2050 and 4 feet by 2100
• Climate change is expensive: One hurricane in Philadelphia could cause $2 billion in damages.
