Support Local Cheese with Birchrun Hills Farm Kickstarter

“We never wanted to forget that it was about the cows.”

– Sue Miller says of her small family-run dairy farm and cheese production in Chester County.

Screen Shot 2014-11-21 at 11.45.40 AMOwned and operated by the Miller family, Birchrun Hills Farm sells a variety of hand-crafted cheeses to numerous businesses and restaurants in the Philadelphia area. In early November, they launched its Raise A Cheese Cave Campaign on Kickstarter to help expand its cheese facility and production and over $21,000 has been pledged!

Di Bruno Bros. and the Fair Food Farmstand rave about the fine artisan cheeses made by Birchrun Hills Farm, and chances are you’ve seen it on display in their stores. Or if you’ve dined at Talula’s Table or the White Dog Café, then you probably already tasted some of its famous cheeses.

The small family-run dairy farm in Chester Springs is known for its love of the land, cows, and its really unique tasting cheeses. 10 years ago, the Sue began crafting cheese to add value to the milk, and developed all the flavors of cheese that they offer. The Birchrun Blue, the farm’s first, is absolutely delicious, but then again, so are the other variety of cheeses, including Red Cat, Fat Cat, and Equinox.

The Kickstarter will help fund the outfitting of Birchrun Hill’s brand new cheese cave on the farm (previously located a few miles away). Your donations will buy a curd vat, ripening shelves, and a cooling system, which will allow the Miller’s will be able to produce a greater variety of flavors as well as a larger quantity of cheese. This means that Birchrun Hills Farm will have more cheese in supply for you to purchase directly or at one of the fine establishments they work with.

It’s safe to say that we all love cheese, and we all love to help our local businesses and community members. Support this Kickstarter and support the city that you love!
