4 Lessons from our 1st Seed Bomb Workshop at United By Blue!

We hosted our first DIY Seed Bomb workshop last evening at United By Blue‘s flagship Old City location – and it was one for the books!

Thank you to all who attended our lovely workshop. We had a chance to chat, enjoy a little wine/beer – and make a few seed bombs, too.

Every day we learn something new, even when we’re (allegedly) the instructor! So what do we learn during such a workshop?

4 Lessons from our 1st DIY Seed Bomb Workshop

  1. You get to choose your own adventure. It was exciting to see what kind of seeds everyone selected for their seed bombs. Plus, I encouraged people to swap with their neighbors and create a few different varieties.

2. Kneading seed bombs is a therapeutic bonding experience. Our attendees got to catch up with friends (or make new ones!) as they worked the compost into their seed bombs.

3. Sustainability community take bonding FTW! It’s always amazing to see people across Philadelphia making a difference collaborating and learning new things! One of our attendees was excited to start her DIY composting, and another participant happens to work for a local composting company. On top of learning how to DIY seed bombs, she picked up a few composting tips (from someone other than the instructor).

4. Local companies are an incredible network of support! Thanks to our local partners over at United By Blue, who practice what they preach by picking up 1 lb of trash for every product sold (and staying true to their word!). They hosted us in a beautiful space in Old City. Burpee provided seeds for the class, and Blick Art Supply lent a hand with non-toxic, natural clay.

Thanks again to all who came out for this event! Stay tuned for upcoming events and news in the future!
