Looking for new eco-friendly ways to trek across Philly?
Philadelphia Electric Wheels opened this past fall in West Mt. Airy, apprx. 12 mins from Center City. Philly Electric Wheels is the first store in the tri-state region to sell and service electric bike exclusively.
Electric bikes are one of the new hot trends in personal transit – including electric tricycles, models that fold and generate their own energy as you pedal. Easy on the wallet (they cost just one penny per mile to operate!), electric bikes travel up to 25 mph, take on hills and can last 25 or more miles per charge. Pedal-optional. They’re as easy to re-charge as a cell phone battery, lasting 5-6 hours. New bicycles are low-cost, starting at $550.
Store owner Afshin Kaighobady has personally studied bicycles and assisted neighbors to make their homes more energy efficient – so the transition to electric bikes was easy!
Want a free test ride on an electric bike? Bring a valid I.D. (drivers license & major credit card), sturdy closed-toe-and-heel shoes, – and don’t forget to BYOH! (Bring Your Own Helmet)
January Store Hours – Sat & Sun 11-5, Philadelphia Electric Wheels, 550 Carpenter Lane (Greene St. & Carpenter Lane), Phila PA 19119 (215-821-9266)
