Jimmy Pocket Towel: Paper Sucks (WCI Weds)

Jimmy TowelThe toilet flushes… and that’s when it gets me.

As I’m washing my hands in the bathroom, I see the pile of paper towels overflowing the trashcan. Many places don’t have those electronic dryers and with a wave of the motion detector, a magna carter-sized cluster of paper towels comes spitting out.

I hate disposables. It haunts me to carelessly use tissues, napkins and paper towels, although my OCD cleanliness sometimes gets the best of me.

Where can you find reusable towels while on the go? It’s a perfect question for Where Can I Wednesday

So when I found the Jimmy Pocket Towel, I knew I found a hidden gem.

Why Jimmy Towel?

51,000 trees are cut down every day to make paper towels for us to dry our hands and clean ‘stuff’ up. And as you can guess, paper towels aren’t recyclable.

Instead of taking a paper towel, you can keep a tiny little reusable towel in your pocket or purse.

Plus, they started as a Kickstarter project and listed the name of all donors on their website! Talking about thanking the ‘little’ guy…

How does Jimmy Towel work?

Jimmy Towel comes in a neat little zipable pouch. Before you wash your hands, unzip the pouch and get your Jimmy towel ready. It gets ‘too wet’ after drying your hands 5 times, so let it dry out for a few minutes or overnight.

To keep it clean, wash your Jimmy Towel weekly. Just simply remove the velcro and toss the towel in your washer with your laundry. You can even buy ‘backup’ Jimmy Towels to have a clean one ready.

My Trial with Jimmy Pocket Towel

Once I fell in love with this product, I requested a sample to test it out. I received a ‘Sporty” version as well as a complimentary knock off.

The Sporty version is perfect for your purse and cute colors to fit your style. Side-by-side, I felt like the “Knock-off” version was slightly less soft than the original. However, they both work perfectly fine.

I’ll admit it: the toughest part of using the Jimmy Towel is to break old habits. Although I was carrying it in my purse for a week, I kept forgetting to take it to the ladies’ room until I was washing my hands again.

Yet once you start to train yourself- just like reusable bags – it becomes an easy task and conversation starter.

Choosing a Jimmy Towel

To get one, simply go to the Jimmy Towel Store. They have a ton of colors and designs for towels, as well as varying cases. There’s anything from the “sporty” Jimmy Towels, Dapper (if you want to go a little more classy) and ‘knock off’ towel made in China for a little bit cheaper. Either way, you can save trees in any price range.

Readers, will you try the Jimmy Towel?
