Greenest Colleges in US – Did your Alma Mater Make the List?

It’s that time of year again… the time I’m envious of college students everywhere trekking back to campus, ready to engage in the best time of their lives.

Thinking about going to school (whether graduate or undergrad) with an eco-friendly mindset?  Want to know if your alma mater is a green-friendly campus?

The top 15 Greenest Colleges came out from the Princeton Review as follows:

• Arizona State University, Tempe campus
• Bates College (Lewiston, Me.)
• Binghamton University (State University of New York at Binghamton)
• College of the Atlantic (Bar Harbor, Me.)
• Colorado College (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
• Dickinson College (Carlisle, Pa.)
• Evergreen State College (Olympia, Wash.)
• Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, Ga.)
• Harvard College (Cambridge, Mass.)
• Middlebury College (Middlebury, Vt.)
• Northeastern University (Boston, Mass.)
• University of California (Berkeley, Calif.)
• University of New Hampshire (Durham, N.H.)
• University of Washington (Seattle, Wash.)
• Yale University (New Haven, Conn.)

These green ratings were determined by each university’s sustainability policies, eco-friendly practices & eco-minded academic programs.  Schools vary with innovative programs – Arizona State University is shining about being the nation’s first School of Sustainability program, while College of the Atlantic has one major of Human Ecology.

Wondering why my alma mater, Penn State isn’t on that list?  We DID make the nation’s Best Party School! (Maybe our Energy Conservation Policy will get us some brownie points for next year…)
