You can purchase BeGreen’s Valentine’s “Gift of Green” lovers, and have three trees planted on behalf of your Valentine by going to BeGreen‘s website.  For only $9.95 per gift, consumers get a certificate that acknowledges the purchase of the carbon offsets, which can be printed (or hopefully forwarded via email) and presented to that special someone.

BeGreen’s Carbon Offsets are a division of Green Mountain Energy Company, the nation’s leading provider of cleaner electricity and carbon offset solutions.  Purchasing just the three trees will help the planet by:

• Absorbing approximately 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions throughout the trees’ lifetime.  
• Providing important wildlife habitats
• Purifying rivers and streams
• The three trees will be planted in the Mendocino National Forest near San Francisco.  This reforestation project is a partnership between BeGreen and American Forests to plant the seeds that will help reduce carbon in the air AND keep this habitat thriving for species like the Northern Spotted Owl
