Support the Lombard/South protected bike lane project

July 17, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

There will be a listening session on Monday, July 17, for a City of Philadelphia project that would restripe and upgrade existing bike lanes on Lombard and South Streets in Southwestern Center City.

The project will take place along Lombard between 22nd and 27th, along South Street between 21st and 27th, and along 27th Street. The separation will create a safer ride for those riding to, and from, the South Street Bridge.

Those interested should come to the Philadelphia School at 2500 South Street on Monday, July 17, anytime between 5:30 and 7pm.

The proposed project will address existing safety issues by, according to an Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems flier,

-Repainting crosswalks and existing bike lanes
-Shortening the pedestrian crossing distance
-Creating “clearly defined” bicycle space separated from motor vehicle traffic
-Reducing obstructions in the bike lane
-Adding flexible delineator posts

If protected bike lanes and new safety enhancements are important to you, as they are to us, we encourage you to come out to the Philadelphia School on July 17 for this listening session.

The session will be held at The Philadelphia School’s South Street Building (2500 South Street), NOT at its 2501 Lombard Street building.
