Public Participation in Philadelphia’s Clean Energy Future

November 9 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

Philadelphia has bold goals to transition to 100% clean energy by 2050, which will require Philadelphia’s publicly-owned gas company (PGW) to transition away from fossil fuels. However, PGW is currently trying to erode the public’s right to participate in its proceedings, a move that environmental justice groups and Community Legal Services strongly oppose.

Join Penn Law’s Environmental Law Project for an event about PGW’s attempt to peel back public participation with Earthjustice Clean Energy attorney Devin McDougall, Community Legal Services attorney Rob Ballenger (L’04), and POWER Interfaith representative Pamela Darville. POWER Interfaith is a community organization that fights for climate justice in Philadelphia. Speakers will discuss PGW regulation and why the right to participate in utility proceedings is critical for community groups trying to equitably decarbonize energy systems.
