Our Table, Our Planet: Making Connections Between Farming & The Environment

March 13, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

How far does a kiwi fruit travel to get to your plate? How does growing food organically versus conventionally affect the environment? What in the world is aquaponics?  Be a scientist and get some answers as we investigate together! We will explore Riverbend’s exciting aquaponics greenhouse, conduct our own taste-test comparisons on both organic and conventional fruits and vegetables, and visualize the impact on our local watershed using an interactive model. Through hands-on activities and live demonstrations, we will explore the connections between farming and the environment. Appropriate for ages 8 and up. Register with Kelly Myers at kvoorhees@riverbendeec.org or call 610-527-5234 x106.
