March for Science in Philadelphia

April 22, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Join us for the March for Science in Philadelphia this Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 at the Penn’s Landing Great Plaza! Invite your friends, coworkers, and family members. All supporters of science are welcome!

Those interested in participating may assemble on the day of the march at 10 a.m. at the south side of City Hall on Juniper Street. The march will begin promptly at 11 a.m. and will proceed down Market Street to Front Street to the Chestnut Street bridge, before crossing to end the march at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, located at 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd. The March for Science PHL rally will begin at 11:30 a.m. with entertainment by local band The Really Cooks, followed by guest speakers from the local science community at noon. The event will end by 2 p.m.

March for Science PHL is one of roughly 400 satellite marches that are officially affiliated with the main Washington DC-based “March for Science” event, also scheduled for April 22. To advocate for continued public support for, as well as transparency and non-partisanship in scientific research, Philadelphia will join the many other cities–across 37 countries worldwide–marching on this date. The event will also showcase the Greater Philadelphia area’s large, passionate, and productive STEM community.
