Join us for the Nourishing Well’s series of Spring/Summer Demo-Style Cooking Classes. First up is “Discover Healthy Mediterranean Cuisine”. This is an observational style class – you’ll relax, sip tea and watch as your instructor, Marilyn Moser-Waxman does all the work!
The countries that border the Mediterranean Sea – Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Turkey and Israel have created delicious, healthy cuisines. While there is quite a variety in flavors and ingredients used by each culture the key components are heart-healthy olive oil, whole grains, plenty of fresh vegetables, nutrient-rich legumes and moderate amounts of red meat and wine. People who choose to eat a Mediterranean diet are less likely to develop high blood pressure, high cholesterol or to become obese.
In this class we will explore Mediterranean cuisine in depth and Marilyn will show you how to make several delicious dishes that exemplify the wonderful benefits of the foods from this culture. All ingredients used will be organic, vegetarian, and locally sourced whenever possible.
The class menu will include: Vegetarian Paella, Shaved Zucchini, Fennel and Carrot Salad, Marinated Mushroom and Rice Salad, Italian Vegetable Stew, and Quinoa Tabbouleh with Chickpeas. Tastings will be offered!
