As some of you are no doubt aware, in our city we have a man who thinks that most cyclists are nothing but “bikeheads” who blow off traffic laws! Who thinks that streets don’t need bike lanes!
That man, my friends, is…our Grand Marshall Stu Bykofsky, of the Philadelphia Daily News.
That’s right folks, this is the first (possibly annual!) Byko Safe Bike Ride! Stu’s putting his pride (and possibly body!) on a bike for a good cause. Thanks to the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia, we’ll have a full list of laws we have to follow. Over an 11-mile course, we’ll follow all the rules of the road: stop signs, red lights, speed limits, the works. As this is all for charity, tickets are $20, all proceeds going directly to the People’s Emergency Center. You even get a tshirt with your registration!
The route will take us from Center City to Fairmount Park, and back again. We’ll even be riding over the river and through the woods! We’ll end at McGillans Olde Ale House for a celebration!
Invite as many people as you can!
As always, the route is here:
