We have exciting news! Green Philly Blog has a couple of temporary interns diving deep in our WordPress and bringing you more great content.

Here’s a little info about the folks you’ll see popping up on your feed:

Alex

Hi everyone! My name is Alex Friend. I’ll be a freshman in Temple University’s Honors Program next fall. Over the past few years, I’ve developed a passion for protecting the environment. An aspiring photojournalist and filmmaker, my goal is to raise awareness about human impact on our planet and how we can help to prevent further damage.

I’ve loved Philadelphia my entire life and I’ll do anything I can to help it become more clean and green (like signing this petition)! Fun fact: I recently won 2^nd place in Firstrust Bank’s Samuel A. Green scholarship contest for writing about sustainability and how it cultivates prosperity in local communities!

Ashley

Ever since elementary school, I have been intrigued by the earth and how it works. Many people are aware that the earth is being degraded every minute, but are not doing anything about it. I want to motivate people to conserve more and become more environmentally friendly, including those who are not aware.

This is why I’m headed off the State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and forestry (or SUNY-ESF), up in Syracuse, this fall to major in Environmental Science. I hope to meet other people who share a passion about nature and the environment. Although I’m not what many people refer to as a “tree-hugger,” I am making small steps. (Editor note: Which means she fits GPB mold!)

I believe that to care for the Earth is to care for ourselves. 🙂
