The Night Kitchen Bakery has been a Philadelphia landmark for over 25 years with infamous cakes, “Best of Philly” brownies, sticky buns. To top it off, they recently became a Certified Green Restaurant (like Pita Pit) from the Green Restaurant Association. The GRA is a non-profit organization that helps restaurants become environmentally sustainable.

Night Kitchen Bakery’s green moves:

• Installing a programmable thermostat
• Low flow faucet aerators and spray valves to conserve water
• Sourcing recycled and chlorine-free napkins, office paper, and menu paper
• Full-scale recycling program
• Eliminated the use of Styrofoam
• Composts food scraps

Owner Amy Edelman explained their movement: “We’ve baked thousands of cakes and pastries for years, and now we can offer our customers piece of mind too.  When they see our Certified Green Restaurant distinction on the window, they’ll know we’re doing our part to conserve energy and water, recycle, and source sustainable ingredients.”
